Mahlkönig EK43S Grinder Short with Turkish Blades
The Mahlkonig EK43S coffee bean grinder is short and stumpy. It stands at just 68 centimetres tall, which is substantially shorter than the 77 centimetres of the classic EK43 coffee grinder. The EK43s has a slimmer 800gram capacity hopper, it aims to cut a more small-bar-appropriate profile than its towering bulk-oriented predecessor.
The original and now Classic Mahlkonig EK43 grinder was built as a deli and retail coffee grinder, yet got thrown onto the world stage when Matt Perger took it to the World Barista Championships and became the World Brewers Cup Champion in 2011. This was the start of a cult following, both for Matt Perger and his Barista Hustle blog, and the EK43 grinder.
This burr grinder is insanely fast, producing 1200-1500 grams per minute! It has next to no retention, and the 98mm flat cast steel burrs, paired with the grinder’s unique burr construction, produce grounds that have an extremely accurate particle distribution.
The 98mm flat-burrs on the EK43 make light work of any volume of coffee you need to throw at it without losing quality. And most impressively with the right workflow the EK43 grinder removes the need for multiple coffee grinders on the counter as its super flexible easily grinding both espresso and traditional cupping grind-settings, as well as all stops in between like drip, filter, batch, French press, Turkish, and more.
The front-facing step-less grind setting knob features 12 reference sizes, but still offers full control over the grind setting. This makes the EK43 a filter grinder and an espresso grinder all in one, and has the ability to switch between blend with only a couple grams of coffee in-between needed to season the blades.
So the Mahlkonig coffee grinder is an exceptionally robust grinder with high grinding capacity, suitable for different grinding coffee at different grind levels, from French Press to Espresso. "Most uniform particle size" - Matt Perger, World Brewers Cup Champion 2011. It’s no wonder why the EK 43 is the grinder of choice for the World Brewers Competition.

Coffee Parts EK43S Grinder Review
This was the grinder we begged Mahlkoenig to build, so to say we love this grinder is an understatement. We wish they had used the hopper of the Ditting KR805 instead and made it a completely short and stumpy single shot grinder, but we are just gad a short EK43 was released so its ok. Like the Classic EK43 the massive 98mm burrs, stepless setting adjuster, and insane grinding speed makes this one of the most powerful and precise grinders on the market. This make the EK43S an ultimate grinder for only for your cafe/brewbar but for you insane home setup. One of the most consistent grinders on the market with next to no retention. We love it!
