It weights just over 500 grams which is the industry standard, has a stainless base to withstand damage from usage and an aluminium handle to allow the weight to be balanced. The radius of the base was also chosen to maximise surface area when tamping without compromising the strength of the base edge. 58mm is the most common size in commercial coffee machine and high end prosumer machines, as well as the recommended size for most baskets to coffee machines including La Marzocco, Synesso, Kees van der Westen, San Remo, Rocket and more.
The Silicon Tamping Mat has been design to be an easy to clean silicon rubber tamping surface which reduces stress on your wrists from repetitive tamping while protecting your bench from scratches and dents caused by the portafilter.
The Tamping Seat has a simple design to protect the tamper base and keep the bench workspace clean and organised. This tamper seat has an easy to clean silicon rubber tamping surface and protects your bench from dents caused by the tamper.

Coffee thermometers are both used for consistency in the art of steaming and stretching milk, as well as the safety of both the barista and the consumer. As milk reaches its potentially hazardous burning point at 72 degrees celsius, it is important to sever milk based espresso coffees at just under this temperature to avoid burning the mouths of consumers. Milk also changes its properties dramatically after 72 degrees celsius and loses its natural sweetness, which makes milk temperature a crucial part of serving the best possible milk based coffees. The milk frothing thermometer with its clear dial, will help you go from cold milk to the perfect time to turn off the steam. The thermometer has a marking at 60 degrees celsius as an indicator of the milk frothing temperature where you should start cutting your streaming, and then a marker at 65-70 degrees for where you shouldn't go past as once it hits 72 degrees celsius the milk properties will change dramatically. You will notice at this temperature the sound of the milk being steamed will also change.
And lastly, how can we have a cappuccino without a great chocolate shaker!

Coffee Parts Accessories Kit Review
Let's be honest, it's hard to be totally un-biased reviewing our own kits, so let's just explain our why put this kit together. A great little starter kit for home espresso or small cafes, however we also recommend the addition of the essential cleaning kit and knocking tube to the full home barista kit.
