How to Use Cafetto Espresso Clean Tablets?

Daily Backflushing Procedure for Each Brew Group

  • Step 1: Remove the coffee filter basket from the portafilter and insert a blind filter.
  • Step 2: Add one Espresso Clean tablet to the portafilter and lock it into the group head.
  • Step 3: Start the cycle and allow it to run for 10 seconds.
  • Step 4: Stop the cycle and let the solution sit for 10 seconds.
  • Step 5: Repeat the start-stop cycle four more times to ensure deep cleaning.
  • Step 6: Remove the portafilter and rinse under running water from the brew group.
  • Step 7: Reinsert the portafilter with the blind filter and run 10 rinse cycles (5 seconds on, 2 seconds off).
  • Step 8: Remove the blind filter and replace it with the regular filter basket.
  • Step 9: Brew and discard one espresso shot to re-season the machine.

Daily Cleaning Procedure for Filter Baskets & Portafilters

  • Step 1: Dissolve one Espresso Clean tablet in 500ml of hot water.
  • Step 2: Soak the portafilter and filter baskets for 10 minutes.
  • Step 3: Rinse thoroughly under running hot water.

What’s the Difference Between an Espresso Cleaner and a Descaler?

Espresso machine cleaners are alkaline and effectively remove the build-up of coffee oils and residues. However, they do not remove scale. A descaler is specifically designed to dissolve mineral scale deposits in boilers and machine pipes, improving performance and reducing service costs.

Powder vs. Tablet Cleaner: Which One Should You Choose?

  • Tablets: Convenient pre-measured portions for controlled dosing.
  • Powder: Allows flexible dosing and includes a scoop for measurement.

Why Cleaning Your Espresso Machine is Essential

  • Enhances Extraction Consistency: Ensures balanced brewing for optimal espresso flavor.
  • Prevents Bitter Tasting Coffee: Eliminates stale oils that cause unpleasant aftertastes.
  • Extends Machine Lifespan: Reduces component wear and service downtime.
  • Boosts Machine Efficiency: Prevents blockages and ensures smooth operation.
